Apparently picture time today (for the Spring pictures) was once again right around naptime. And despite much supposed effort, no one could get Owen to smile. Why do they do the daycare pictures at 8am? Wouldn't after naptime be a much better time? Owen's fall pictures were so sad, they gave us three different poses for the price of one, hoping we could find one salvageable picture out of the bunch. This time we get to see the proofs before we order. I'm sure we'll order pictures, but once again, I'm sure I'll be unhappy with the results. Should everyone have sad pictures of their child? Does it make the happy pictures that much more exciting and memorable? You'll notice I never scanned and uploaded the fall pictures. Maybe once the Spring pictures come back I'll do a before and after series. So I decided to do a little photo shoot myself this evening. At least that way I would have one picture of him smiling in his cutie-pie little dino outfit today!

Dinosaurs
ordering of Owen's birthday cake and sending out the invitations to his party. We've decided to have a very small, family only birthday party for him. We kind of figured, he's one, it's not like he's going to know the difference. I'm sure next year we'll have a bigger to-do. But even with just family, we're going to have around 15 people at our house. The theme of his party is DINOSAURS!!! We ordered his cake from a local bakery in Kyle. It comes with a little baby size cake for Owen to eat. We've also made an appointment to have his pictures made for his birthday. He's also having Spring pictures done at school on Tuesday this week. Wow, things are kind of busy around here. I just can't believe my little boy will be one in four weeks!!!

Changes Abound
While we have the baby website for now, it does require a yearly subscription fee. And with things settling down, and not as much to post, we've decided to go to a blog instead, where we can post pictures and information, all for free. =)
Owen is eleven months months old today! We can't believe he's already that old. I really can't believe that he'll be a year old in just four weeks. He's growing and changing all the time. He's happy and frustrated and already hard to keep up with. He isn't walking yet, but it's coming soon. He is a super-fast crawler, though. He's got that down pat. He also really likes to cruise, holding onto everything, whether it's stable or not. We've gone swimming twice, and he really seems to love it. Plus, he's super adorable in his little trunks. Owen has decided he hates having his diaper changed. He also changes his mind daily about what food he likes and hates. He loves baths, but he wants to stand up the whole time. He really loves brushing his teeth. But now he wants to take his toothbrush everywhere with him, including the bathtub. Even though he's not a toddler yet, I think we're getting an early glimpse of what things are like with one. He's totally unpredictable. He naps with the big kids on mats at school because he won't nap in his crib. At daycare they had to start feeding him in a chair at the table because he refuses to go in the high chair (we had to do this at home, too). But now he's decided he wants to pick up the table and turn it over. So they've had to move the table where he can't get to it. He's a giant handful. But he's a joy every single day. He says mama and dada very clearly now, and they're not just words. He looks at each of us and says these words. He kisses and hugs and waves. We are so completely blessed to have him in our lives. I'll post more when I have more.
