We had a super fun Memorial Day weekend. We w
ent swimming FIVE times!!! Crazy, I know. But Owen had a blast. He has this little floatie turtle he loves to swim in and walk around with in the shallow end. We did have one bad incident with sunscreen in the eyes. But we learned a valuable lesson and now highly recommend Neutrogena Baby sunscreen, both the lotion and the stick. I can tell we're going to be spending a lot of time in the pool this summer. We also found a few awesome places in San Antonio while visiting Erik's family. We shopped at Homegoods, which doesn't ex
ist in Austin. It totally ROCKS! Awesome selection and prices for the home, and they have stuff I haven't seen at the usual places. Also, we thoroughly enjoyed the Gourmet Burger Grill (or GBG) in San Antonio... lamb burgers, bison burgers, and sweet potato fries are amazing! Only four more days of work for me, then we'll be off for the summer. I can't wait!!! Hope everyone had a great holiday weekend!

Swimming Fun
We went swimming for the first time th
is season. Of course we chose the weekend that a cold, rainy front came through Austin. We managed to find the one hour of sunlight on Saturday. Owen LOVED the pool. He was a little chilly, but he squealed with laughter. He really enjoyed splashing around and playing. I'm hoping we have a water-loving baby on our hands! I'm afraid, though, that he may be entering a difficult stage. Today at dinner, he only wanted to feed himself with the spoon, but he doesn't really know how to do this well. Yet he screams if you try to take it from him (all this while out at a restaurant). Also, now that he's walking, he's very squirmy an
d wants to get down and walk around all the time. But when he gets down, he often cries and wants to be picked up again. Ugh... he's making things very hard. Anyway, eight more days of school... then SUMMER!!!!! We can't wait!

Fun Weekend
We had a pretty busy, fun-filled weekend. On S
aturday we had a very nice dinner at Red Lobster with the entire family. The food was yummy, and it was nice to have everyone together. It always seems kind of crazy when the ten of us all go out, though. Afterwards, everyone came to our house for ice cream. Owen ate some of every flavor of ice cream. He loves it. This is not too surprising. Today we went to the park in our neighborhood for the Front Porch Days. We walked over there and had a picnic on a blanket. There was live music, too. It was Owen's first picnic and first concert. They also had a petting zoo, and he really enjoyed the bunnies. We came home exhausted and enjoyed a nice family nap on the couch. Owen is really trying to
walk. Last night he took five or so steps on his own. He's not ready to do it all on his own yet, but he is VERY close. It's all quite exciting!
